Davinci resolve training - editing and color

Dear Future Colorist,

I hope this message finds you well! I’m David laposi, a Dolby Vision certificated colorist from Budapest. I wanted to reach out to you regarding Black Magic's Davinci Resolve, a program I have been teaching for the past seven years, and you are recently expressed an interest.

First, I would like to introduce myself and my background in education. I hold both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in film, which certifies me to teach in universities. In fact, in 2022, I had the honor of teaching at the Hungarian Metropolitan University in English. Additionally, in 2021, I taught the Hungarian national TV's restoration team about color pipelines, workflows, and future-proofing movies from the past, which was an incredibly impactful experience.

As an industry professional, I also occasionally create interactive workshops, with a maximum of 8-10 individuals, a few times a year. These workshops have been attended by more than 150 people over the past five years, and I am pleased to announce that I am almost finished with the 19th Color workshop happening soon.

If you're interested to my deeper background, you will welcomed in my hireme page.

I think science is also important!

Color science is important for color grading because it helps ensure that the colors in your final product look accurate and consistent across different displays. By understanding how color works and how it is perceived by the human eye, colorists can make informed decisions about how to adjust the color in their footage to achieve the desired look. Without an understanding of color science, color grading can become a bit of a guessing game, and the final result may not look as good as it could.

Lets see what will happen in this 9 hours?
Rock and roll!

Let me transcribe some opinions from my previous students

colorist

I've always had a strong interest in color, which led me to take Dávid's workshop. I came in with a good foundation, but I didn't anticipate that the theoretical aspects would improve my vision as much as they did. The workshop wasn't just about color/resolve; it also covered communication techniques and business practices. The combination of these topics filled in the gaps in my knowledge and only increased my thirst for learning. The workshop prepared me for the everyday processes in the market, giving me a toolkit to handle any problems that arose, whether they were related to human interactions or technical issues. In the two years since the workshop, I've had the opportunity to finish nearly 200 music videos for almost 60 Hungarian artists. As part of excellent teams, I even received awards in almost every category at the Hungarian Music Video Review in 2022.

At first, I thought the "curriculum" was overwhelming, but it turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable and helpful in shaping my perspective and way of thinking. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere made it easy to absorb and apply the material, which has had a lasting impact on my work.

As a freelance cameraman, I frequently partner with production agencies to work on commercials, music videos, and short films. I had the opportunity to participate in Dávid's workshop, which helped me gain a deeper understanding of lighting and its effect on values. The workshop emphasized that there is no universal solution, and that was a valuable lesson. I would highly recommend Dávid's workshop to anyone who wants to expand their knowledge of film, particularly color. The workshop was professional, informative, and welcoming.

"A fényelés egy új szintje volt a videós - dokumentumfilmes tudásomnak. A felvétel elindítása előtti ne kapkodjunk, tevezzünk munkafolyamat része, amelyre a mai tartalomkészítésben nagy igény van. A color workshop sokat segített a látásmódom és a sze

Learning about color grading during the workshop was a significant upgrade to my video-documentary knowledge. It is now an essential part of the pre-production process, which is highly sought after in today's content creation industry. The workshop greatly helped in shaping my vision and editorial thinking. I currently work as a video journalist for the online newspaper 24.hu, and I am also involved in various documentary projects as a cameraman, editor, and director. I highly recommend the workshop to anyone who wants to enhance their post-production skills and better convey their artistic vision through their works.

When I was lost in the maze of incomplete information on the internet, Dávid provided me with guidance and direction, helping me establish a solid foundation and clear vision by the end of his workshop. Now, as an editor at MTVA, I regularly apply the knowledge and skills I acquired during the course. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone seeking a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of the film industry and its various connections.
